Sehat Setu 🌟 Inspiration The spark for Sehat Setu came from real stories around us. In Patna, families often struggle to find the right hospital when time is critical. A father rushing his child to the ER, a mother comparing delivery packages, or a senior citizen worried about hidden costs — all face the same problem: fragmented, unreliable information. We felt that healthcare decisions should not be clouded by confusion or fear. That belief inspired us to build a platform that brings clarity, dignity, and trust to healthcare choices.
📚 What We Learned Through this journey, we learned that:
Transparency saves lives — even indicative cost ranges can reduce anxiety.
Data ethics matter — citizens trust platforms that verify and update information.
Design is empathy — a clean, multilingual, responsive UI is not just aesthetics, it’s accessibility.
Technology can be lightweight yet impactful — simple stacks like Flask + SQLite can power meaningful solutions when combined with thoughtful workflows.
🛠️ How We Built It We chose a lightweight architecture suitable for a student capstone:
Flask for routing and server logic.
SQLite for persistence, ensuring simplicity and maintainability.
Bootstrap for a responsive, mobile‑friendly UI.
Data stewardship workflows for quarterly verification of hospital entries.
Multilingual support (English/Hindi) and offline‑first caching to serve diverse citizens, including those with low bandwidth.
Export features (PDF for caregivers, CSV for researchers) to extend usability beyond the portal.
⚡ Challenges We Faced Data collection & verification: Hospitals present information in inconsistent formats; curating reliable entries required persistence and careful validation.
Balancing scope: We had to resist adding sensitive features like real‑time bed availability or personal health records, staying true to our role as an informational aid.
Designing for inclusivity: Ensuring the portal worked equally well for a tech‑savvy student and a rural caregiver demanded iterative UI testing.
Time constraints: As students, balancing academic schedules with hackathon deadlines tested our discipline and teamwork.
💡 Vision Sehat Setu is more than a project — it is a bridge of compassion and trust. Starting with Patna, we dream of expanding to nearby districts, creating a regional healthcare transparency ecosystem. Because at its heart, Sehat Setu believes:
No family should feel alone when making healthcare decisions. Information is care. Transparency is healing. Trust is the first step toward recovery.
