Wanting to create an application that would benefit as many of our peers as possible

What it does

Tracks and manages various information about jobs the user has applied to. Various sorting algorithms and easy to use forms to track new applications

How I built it

Created an Express server connected to MongoDB to store applications. Deployed server using Digital Ocean and utilized React to create a Single Page Application that makes HTTP requests to server to access database.

Challenges I ran into

Deciding which features to aim to include in the final submission. For a specific challenge, utilizing asynchronous thunks in Redux proved to be challenging.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Utilizing Tailwind CSS on Front-end and MongoDB and Mongoose for Back-end. Neither team had prior experience with these technologies so learning so seamlessly on the fly is something we are very proud of.

What I learned

Several new frameworks, libraries, and design patterns. Additionally, learning how to utilize Agile development principles as a team.

What's next for Seekr

Finish missing core functionality that unfortunately did not make it to submission such as updating entries, application filtering, and implementing user registration and login in the Front-end to allow multiple users to track job applications.
