Inspiration

It began with a simple frustration: diaspora families sending money back home, only to suffer from poor workmanship, lack of accountability, lost funds, and zero visibility. We asked: “Why can’t you hire vetted professionals or full teams, regardless of location?”

What it does

SeekCa connects hirers (individuals, companies, or agencies) to verified professionals—engineers, plumbers, architects, enabling them to: Post jobs, receive detailed proposals with proof-of-work, form project-specific teams, track progress, pay securely, and rate completed work.

How we built it

Built on Next.js + Supabase, with React UI and Supabase for auth, database, real-time chat, and storage. Implemented Supabase Edge Functions for Tax-ID validation. Designed a responsive UI (via bolt.new prototyping) for both desktop and mobile-first experiences. Launched a TikTok journey to chronicle our development, quick updates, authentic log clips, and community calls-to-action to build awareness and trust.

Challenges we ran into

We were building, and our tokens finished, subscribed again, only for us to face hydration issues on bolt.new (our project is too large, limit exceeded). Complex RLS policies to secure data access across roles. Scaling messaging and real-time chat across job teams. Tax-ID validations needed multiple country APIs and failed attempts. We restarted building on Friday when bolt.new annouced free building for the weekend.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Launched KYC workflows and job-posting MVP in under eight weeks. Communicated with 19 professionals/service providers across three countries (Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya) about some of the issues they face. Successfully piloted 5 real projects—house builds, event setups—with verified teams. Built a high-engagement TikTok series from day one—covering emotion, code updates, and live demos to create genuine audience interest.

What we learned

Building trust starts with transparency authentic TikTok stories drove remarkable early adoption. Secure data access matters: fine-grained RLS policies are critical for protecting users. Iterative UX improvements, especially in forms and mobile layouts, dramatically improve engagement.

What's next for SeekCa

Launch real-time chat between teams and hirers (milestones and file collaboration). Initiate and expand regional Tax-ID/APIs to a global scope. Integrate payment plans, invoicing, and escrow payments.
