Inspiration

We all know that eat local and seasonal food is a good idea for reducing CO2 emission. However as a newcomer of Munich city, I have zero idea about the local ingredients and how to cook them. What if there's an App that provide recipe cooking with local ingredients? It'll be not only benefit the newcomers but also who are tired of thinking what to cook everyday.

What it does

It provide recipe that use local ingredients according to the location and season you choose. And also, there's a section everyone can upload his/her own recipe to the App, so our local farmers can also share their recipe and state that where to buy their products. Moreover, we design a gamine system called "Help the polar bear to get home". We visualized how global warming effect the Arctic iceberg into a cute game. Through the game, we can not only help our current users to keep a good habit but also draw more attention from those who not yet aware of the importance of eat local.

How we built it

  1. First, we discussed our idea and mind map in Miro.
  2. We designed UI/UX wireframe, layout in Figma.
  3. We use Unity to built up an APP for IOS system.
  4. We designed our icons and polar bears in Adobe Illustrator.

Challenges we ran into

  1. How to design the game that is fun and will keep people using our App.
  2. UI/UX design that will make the interface more straight forward to the users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  1. We built up an App that meets our actual need in life.
  2. We actually design a cute game that visualizes how global warming effect the Arctic iceberg.
  3. We spent a lot of time working on the UI design for main page and it turns out really nice!

What we learned

  1. How to built up an App from scratch within a short limit of time and how to express our idea with each other more efficiently.
  2. Learn how to use Addressables system and Custom shader for interfaces in Unity.

What's next for Seefood Diet

  1. Create more contents in our App including more recipe and different kinds of polar bear.
  2. Let people share the recipe on social media. Then, more people will start caring about eat local and of course it's also an advertising of our App.
  3. We would like to invite supermarkets such as EDEKA, REWE to upload the food that will be expiring soon to our App so that we can purchase it and do not waste any seasonal food.
