Inspiration

A corporation must provide mandated IT security, privacy, data, and compliance awareness training. Vendors, however, offer training through their portal. Additionally, customers and staff members must switch between the portal and URL, or they will frequently disregard email invitations. Additionally, there are just three learning management systems (LMS) in Marketplace for Atlassian Cloud that are specifically geared for any trainings. In order to assist the employees of the Data Protection Officer (DPO), Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), and Compliance Officer in providing interactive online trainings via intranet, we were inspired to create a basic, low-cost Confluence app to address a need to create, collaborate, and organize work across teams in one place.

What it does

Unicis LMS offers three primary features. First, it offers an admin interface for creating training by category, adding information, and creating a quiz to assess the participant's understanding. Second, it lists the trainings that are available to the user and group, along with their status, required time, and success rates. Third, gives auditors a compliance report that details training status, average passed and failed scores, and other information.

How we built it

We began out by using the Forge UI Kit, but we quickly ran across limitations. We thus made the decision to mix both UI and Custom UI.

Challenges we ran into

A challenge in collaborating with teammates due to access problems and shared progress. Working with Forge in a hybrid environment is not simple. And while some Atlaskit components (such as the visual bags that work with Modal) are a little incompatible with Forge, it is still clear how to use them. Shared development, only same member can install the app otherwise stored data will not be accessible if new person deployed within organization. Modules have limited values of viewportSize, and forge tunnel gets an old version of code and does not launch after forge tunnel (works when we change network).

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to create MVP within less than 4 weeks, entirely remotely.

What we learned

Writing code that combines Forge UI and Custom UI taught us a lot. The documentation is well written, and it was really helpful to us.

What's next for Unicis.LMS - Learning Management System

By taking into account the input from our customers and participants, we will continue to add new functionality and features. For instance, enhance the user interface by adding more options for training and quiz creation.
