🔐 SecureVault
SecureVault is a Python-based command-line cybersecurity tool designed to help users understand and improve their password security.
💡 Inspiration
Passwords are one of the most important parts of digital security, but many users still use weak or easily guessable passwords. I wanted to build a practical cybersecurity project that could analyze password strength and provide useful security insights while strengthening my understanding of Python and cybersecurity concepts.
✨ Key Features
- 🔐 Password strength analysis
- 📊 Entropy calculation
- 🚨 Common password detection
- ⏱️ Estimated crack-time calculation
- 💡 Personalized security recommendations
- 🔑 Strong password generator
- 📜 Local password history
- 💻 Simple command-line interface
🛠️ How I Built It
SecureVault was developed in Python using password-security concepts such as entropy, password complexity, common-password detection, and estimated cracking time.
The application processes password characteristics, evaluates their security level, provides recommendations for improvement, and can generate stronger passwords for users.
📚 What I Learned
Building SecureVault helped me improve my:
- Python programming
- Cybersecurity fundamentals
- Password security knowledge
- Entropy and security analysis
- Problem-solving and debugging
- Command-line application development
🚧 Challenges
One of the main challenges was turning cybersecurity concepts such as entropy and crack-time estimation into understandable results. I also worked on making the password analysis useful while keeping the command-line interface simple.
