Inspiration

The inspiration behind this project came from the increasing number of online banking frauds, insecure transaction systems, and data breaches. We wanted to create a secure and reliable banking transaction processing system that can safely manage user accounts, money transfers, transaction history, and fraud detection in a simple yet effective way.

Our goal was to design a banking system that demonstrates how real-world banks process transactions securely while maintaining data integrity and user trust.

What it does

The Secure Banking Transaction Processing System allows users to:

  • Create and manage bank accounts
  • Deposit and withdraw money securely
  • Transfer money between accounts
  • Store transaction records safely
  • Detect suspicious or fraudulent transactions
  • Maintain transaction history logs
  • Provide secure authentication for users
  • Process transactions efficiently with proper validation

The system ensures that every transaction is verified and recorded securely to avoid unauthorized access and balance manipulation.

How we built it

We built this project using:

  • C Programming Language
  • Data Structures
  • File Handling
  • Banking Transaction Logic
  • Fraud Detection Conditions
  • Secure Validation Mechanisms

The project was designed using modular programming concepts where different modules handle:

  1. User Account Management
  2. Transaction Processing
  3. Authentication
  4. Transaction History Storage
  5. Fraud Detection Logic

We also created:

  • DFD Diagrams
  • Banking Workflow Models
  • System Architecture
  • Secure Transaction Flow

to properly visualize the system.

Challenges we ran into

Some major challenges we faced were:

  • Managing secure transaction processing
  • Preventing balance inconsistency during transfers
  • Designing fraud detection logic
  • Handling file storage safely
  • Maintaining transaction history correctly
  • Debugging transaction update errors
  • Building a realistic banking workflow

Implementing proper validation during money transfer operations was one of the most difficult parts of the project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that we successfully created:

  • A working banking transaction system
  • Secure money transfer functionality
  • Fraud detection mechanisms
  • Proper transaction logging system
  • User-friendly banking workflow
  • Professional project documentation and diagrams

The project successfully simulates how secure banking systems work in real-world environments.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned:

  • Real-world banking transaction flow
  • Secure coding practices
  • File handling in C
  • Data validation techniques
  • Fraud detection concepts
  • System design and architecture
  • Debugging and problem-solving
  • Team collaboration and project management

This project helped us understand how modern digital banking systems ensure security, reliability, and efficient transaction processing.
