We were inspired by the lack of diversity in our history and STEM textbooks. There are many heroes, particularly people of color or women that made substantial contributions to the world that have not been highlighted by society.

What it does

Secret Spearheaders is an informational website to target incredible inventors, discoverers, activists, humanitarians, mathematicians, and more.

How we built it

We used Replit to develop our website, because we decided it would be the easiest to work on the code at the same time. Languages we used are HTML, CSS, and Javascript and we used the Bootstrap API to make the website responsive.

Challenges we ran into

As a team, we had a wide experience gap in coding, which made coordination and splitting tasks a new challenge. However, we each pulled our strengths to better the project. Technical issues usurped our time, especially with utilizing Bootstrap and Javascript. As a beginner in JS, having never navigated bootstrap, there were many elements in the carousel, which made it difficult to navigate. We were never able to create a moving carousel as we had originally intended to, to display our amazing title "Secret Spearheaders," so instead we had to resort to just listing them out.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of just how far we've come in the short 36 hours creating this website and definitely learned off of each other. We enjoyed figuring out how to make the background gradient.

What we learned

We learned a lot about the people we researched and gained a better perspective on these secret spearheaders in history. Another takeaway was gaining more experience with working with Bootstrap.

What's next for Secret Spearheaders

In future iterations, we hope to make the carousel more dynamic and appealing. Then we wish to include a random generator or a trivia page, to test the knowledge of the users for fun.
