Inspiration
We wanted to create a student-tailored to-do web application that would serve students in high school and college better than their average calendar. We’ve noticed in college, Canvas can become tedious to work with, instructor controlled, and isn't always up to date, so the idea of collaboration struck our minds as something that could help remove the stress from deadlines and assignments.
What it does
taskademic gives users a personalized to-do list that they can use to attach assignments, tests, etc. with dates and deadlines. In addition, it gives users the ability to create templates of deadlines for specific classes, and grants other users the option to add these templates to their own lists, in hopes to keep due dates tidy and remove the need to run around Canvas.
How we built it
This app was build with Next.js and express connected to a PostgreSQL database.
Challenges we ran into
Working with the headless UI library and the scale of the project became pretty difficult, since the functions and API calls required became pretty tedious.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were proud of the fact that we were able to accomplish so much in a short time, as a lot of these technologies were new/unfamiliar to us.
What we learned
We learned a lot about new technologies like postgres and react, and overall learned a lot about full-stack development and its implementations.
What's next for taskademic
In the future, we hope to improve the user-experience of the application and make it more friendly in hopes to improve its usability. We also will explore with the usage of the templates, and look to advance that.
