Inspiration
We weren't able to do the assigned challenge for multiple reasons, including a lack of required skills. So we came up with our own. We visited the MLH hardware lab to see what was avaliable, then came back to the desk to brainstorm ideas. We eventually settled on Secret Handshake
What it does
Secret Handshake is a 'proof-of-concept' app which uses hand gestures to perform user authentication
How we built it
We used version 2 of the LeapMotion SDK, along with java, to build Secret Handshake
Challenges we ran into
Getting the same versions of the SDK installed and working on our machines. Detecting the individual digits on click Configuring the sensitivity of the password checker
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Getting it working within the time limit
What we learned
How to work with the Leap Motion API Using git branches is veryy very important
What's next for Secret Handshake
Finding a way to make it easy to slot into another application for authentication, and improving the accuracy of the detection.
