Inspiration
People traveling together often have different tastes. Seatback explores how entertainment recommendations can reflect the preferences of more than one passenger.
What it does
Choose a route, adjust the passenger mix, and explore movies, podcasts, and music. Change the balance between passenger groups to see the example rankings change, and inspect the example evidence behind suggestions.
How we built it
We built an interactive web prototype with route selection, adjustable preference weights, and ranked entertainment choices. The demonstration uses synthetic data rather than live Qloo results, allowing repeatable exploration without live API calls.
Challenges we ran into
Making different passengers’ preferences easy to compare was a central design challenge. We also needed to clearly distinguish demonstration data from live recommendations.
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
The prototype demonstrates how changing the balance between passenger preferences changes entertainment rankings in one interface.
What we learned
Recommendations are easier to understand when people can adjust preferences and see the effect. Clear explanations and accurate data labels help users evaluate the results.
What’s next for Seatback
Validate the complete experience with live Qloo recommendations and gather feedback from travelers with different entertainment preferences.
