Seat at the Table

Overview

Seat at the Table is a web-based tool designed to support the wellbeing of women living in shelters. Instead of treating food as one-size-fits-all, the app allows residents to express their preferences and needs so that donations and meal planning better reflect who they are.

Problem

Limited food options offered in shelters can contribute to a loss of identity and reduce overall wellbeing.

Solution

Seat at the Table provides a simple, low-friction interface where users can:

Select preferred food categories and ingredients Indicate dietary restrictions Add custom needs or preferences

The app provides insights on which foods make users feel comforted. It allows staff to gather data in real time so they can make informed decisions when sourcing donations, reflecting needs of current residents.

We want residents to make autonomous, dignified decisions surrounding which foods make them feel comforted.
