Inspiration

I want to figure out new ways to do search, not just typing keywords in google. Besides, sometimes I don't even know the name of stuff I am interested in. Therefore, I need another indirect way to recognize something I like.

What it does

SearchSpot is a branch new innovative app, which helps you look for something by taking a picture of it or speak to the app directly. It provides you with different approaches to searching anything you like, not just typing keywords on the search bar.

How we built it

I utilize the vision recognition and speechToText api from different companies. Also I use two market apis to show items to users.

Challenges we ran into

It is the first time I embed so many api functions in my app. It is challenging because it is hard to do all the middleware correctly just in several times. It takes me days to guarantee there is no problem to use all the api functions and fix all the middleware between different classes.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I finally make it! It works really well just as what I image at first. I succeeded using vision recognition api and speechToText library to translate what image user uploads and what they speak to the app.

What we learned

It is a really good app to practice api and get to know swift better.

What's next for SearchSpot

I am going to improve the quality of vision recognition technology and provide users with more market options.
