Inspiration
We were inspired by platforms like LinkedIn, and we wanted to streamline the process of connecting fellow developers and potential employers.
What it does
search-tree allows developers and potential employers to directly connect in an environment specifically for developers and employers.
How we built it
We initially started with the front-end, and then Supabase, which was then connected with the Google OAuth client, allowing for users to use their Google account to sign into our website with their unique emails. We used Next.js and Tailwind CSS to design and structure our code.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge we ran into during the development process was that our Supabase session was not loading in our website (it was null when we ran), and the reason for this is because Next.js was unable to communicate between the local client and the server-side of the program. This could've been resolved by using either middleware and cookies, or React.js components.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the database that we created, as it is extremely robust and is able to organize the necessary data for efficient fetching and insertion, inducing minimal latency.
What we learned
We found that Next.js was more difficult to structure clieng and server side components. We also learned to efficiently allocate time towards specific elements of our project and do it in a specific order.
What's next for search-tree
We wish to expand upon our front end features and possibly introduce a sorting/filtering algorithm to further facilitate connections on the home page.
