The world lacks an online platform for truly bespoke garment making, especially one benefitting student designers and helping people in need of truly unique garments. This inspired us. We wanted to aid consumers in creating their "dream garments", whether it be an individual with a disability or handicap looking for a garment to make their day-to-day life easier or the average consumer looking for their perfectly tailored dress shirt.
This platform will connect the customer with a freelance designer willing to complete the customer's submission / garment request. A focus of this platform is to help current design students generate income while simultaneously increasing their skills. Another focus of our platform is our ability to prioritize an individual's handicap or disability, and that individual's power to acquire adaptable clothing, with every detail considered.
The front-end development has already begun. A static live demo was deployed using Could Run and docker. We designed a back-end using PHP and MySQL to handle a complex posting and a direct messaging system. See the full plan in our Tech Spec and view source code on our repo.
Coding was big challenge for us, having only one member proficient in computer science.
We are proud to create a program satisfying current market / consumer needs. As students, we can all see ourselves using this platform.
As a group, we learned a lot about the creation of user interface as well as the importance around team building, team management, and communication and trust.
We plan to have a functional website as well as iOS and Android applications. We will contact and host seminars at participating universities, and in the end, hope to bring our unique online community to life.
