Inspiration

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is coming to Vancouver, and we were inspired by both the Fashion Design Track and the Devin Open Track. Rather than choosing between fashion and technology, we wanted to explore what happens when they are combined.

Fashion concepts are often presented as static images, mood boards, or sketches. While these communicate the visual design, they don't always help viewers understand the story, materials, craftsmanship, and inspiration behind the work.

We saw an opportunity to bridge fashion, software, and AI by creating an immersive digital experience that transforms a jersey concept into an interactive story.

Using Vancouver's role as a World Cup host city as our inspiration, we designed a complete jersey and shorts kit that celebrates the city's identity through cherry blossoms, Coast Mountains, ocean currents, rainfall, and the iconic Sea-to-Sky corridor connecting Vancouver, Squamish, and Whistler.

What It Does

Rooted Here is an interactive 3D web experience that allows users to explore a Vancouver-inspired World Cup kit through immersive storytelling.

Users can:

  • View the jersey and shorts in 3D
  • Rotate and inspect the design from every angle
  • Click interactive hotspots embedded throughout the kit
  • Discover the meaning behind each design decision
  • Explore material choices, textures, embroidery, reflective elements, and construction details

Each hotspot reveals the story behind a specific component, from the cherry blossom graphics and topographic mountain contours to the reflective Sea-to-Sky route and Vancouver skyline details.

Rather than viewing a fashion concept as a static image, users experience it as an interactive digital product.

Why It Matters

This project explores how software can enhance the fashion design process.

Fashion designers can use interactive 3D experiences to communicate concepts more effectively to clients, manufacturers, judges, and stakeholders. Instead of relying solely on flat mockups, they can present designs in a way that showcases both aesthetics and intent.

At the same time, fans, consumers, and event attendees can better understand the stories and cultural influences behind a design.

For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, we believe jerseys can be more than uniforms. They can become storytelling platforms that represent the identity of a city and the communities that call it home.

Built With Devin

We used Devin to accelerate development of the platform, helping us prototype 3D interactions, build application components, iterate on UI ideas, and rapidly bring together fashion design, AI-assisted development, and web technology into a single experience.

The result is a project that demonstrates how AI can help small teams create richer, more ambitious experiences at the intersection of design and software.
