Inspiration: Our original inspiration was Citizens so that people could see what was going on under the ocean in different areas. What it does: Our project is an interactive app that shows the top three oceans with the most trash and it raises awareness as to how this is bad, what has been the effects of this and what you can do to help. How we built it: Figma Challenges we ran into: We faced significant time constraints as some team members had emergencies and had to leave early, putting pressure on the remaining members to complete tasks on time. Along with this, we had to switch tracks twice, overhauling our entire plan and coding approach, which caused delays and confusion at times. Accomplishments that we're proud of: Despite the challenges and frequent course corrections, we successfully managed to pull together a presentation that clearly showcased our work. We demonstrated strong adaptability by reworking our strategy and pushing through under tight deadlines. What we learned: Flexibility and effective communication were key in managing shifting plans and unexpected circumstances. We learned to work efficiently under pressure and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. It is also better to have your work environment already set up so you are good to go rather than panicking and wasting your time at the hackathon itself. What's next for Sea Sweepers: We want to build on this app and write it with actual code in the future, using Flask and React for our front-end and back-end. Another goal is to fully immerse ourselves in the environment instead of taking meaningless breaks.
