Inspiration
The ocean, with its abundant life and various different ecosystems, is a magical placeābut only if it's studied and viewed safely. Many professional and amateur divers injure themselves while searching the depths, and we wanted to create a fun, educational game that could prevent such accidents from happening.
What it does
The interface consists of a title and brief description; a bar at the right indicating the depth band, its description, a list of organisms living at that depth, and links to learn more about each of those creatures; a status bar indicating current depth, maximum depth, elapsed time, pressure, and stop progress below the title; a section to select exploration mode and a description of what the select one means(modes besides recreational diver can be unlocked by checking the 'Dev Mode' box below); a box for ascending or descending a changeable amount, waiting for a minute to adjust to a pressure, or resetting the adventure; a section for diving safety information and a label indicating the depth of the Mariana trench; and finally a dive log at the bottom that gives updates based on choices the player makes.
How we built it
We built this game in the coding language html.
What we learned
We ourselves learned a lot about the effects of compression, decompression, and about the different environments and the organisms they support while creating this game.
