Inspiration
We drew inspiration from games like Osu and Friday Night Funkin for the rhythm game part, and we wanted to stick to a pirate theme to subvert common expectations of a factory game for a steampunk-themed hackathon.
What it does
Three sea shanties are mapped to rhythm game inputs and are designed to flow seamlessly into each other, creating a fun rhythm game experience that tracks your score and incentivizes you to keep improving.
How we built it
William designed the tracks and mapped them to inputs in Godot, Oliver built the backbone of the game mechanics, and Sophia designed all the sprites.
Challenges we ran into
Due to built-in buffers in Godot and MuseScore, it was difficult at first to line up the timing of the notes to the buttons for the rhythm game.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully made a working rhythm game! The art was good for a beginner artist and the sea shanties were reconstructed by ear with no references.
What's next for Sea and Steal
We are going to continue expanding the game and add a storyline in our free time!
