We set out to build ScriptSense AI: a unified, Hollywood-grade studio workstation that merges screenplay writing with real-time AI production intelligence, budget forecasting, and shooting schedule analytics. ✨ What It Does ScriptSense AI turns raw screenplay text into actionable film production intelligence in real-time: 🎬 Master Screenplay Studio: 12pt Courier Hollywood screenplay editor with auto-formatting, line counter, PDF export, and instant browser auto-save. 💰 5-Tier Hollywood Budget Engine: Calculates estimated budgets ($ / page) factoring INT/EXT lighting surcharges (+40%), DAY/NIGHT shooting differentials (+25%), page 1/8ths, and SAG cast day rates. 📅 Production Stripboard (One-Liner Schedule): Automatically generates location-grouped scene strips, filming duration estimates, and 4-week principal photography forecasts. 📈 Act I–III Character Tension Arc & Ratio Graphs: Visualizes character dialogue distribution and renders dynamic glowing SVG tension curve charts across story acts. 🔄 Drag-and-Drop & Position Reordering: Reorder scenes seamlessly via touchscreen/mouse dragging, 1-click position selectors, or step arrow controls — automatically re-sequencing master script text in real-time. ⚠️ Production Safety Controls: Safe single-scene and bulk scene deletion with confirmation warning prompts. 📊 Daily Production Report (DPR) & AI Audit: Detailed payroll variance breakdowns, department lighting allocation, and line producer recommendations. 🔒 Studio Session Authentication: Email sign in/sign up modal with encrypted session storage and demo credentials.

🛠️ How We Built It Frontend: Crafted using semantic HTML5, Vanilla JavaScript, and Tailwind CSS with a modern dark glassmorphism noir theme (#0B0D10). Parser Engine: Custom Regex-driven Hollywood script element parser detecting sluglines (INT./EXT.), character names, and dialogue density. UI & Reordering: SortableJS for smooth touch & mouse scene re-sequencing, and html2pdf.js for 12pt Courier screenplay PDF compilation. Deployment & Hosting: Deployed on Vercel for high availability and low latency.

⚡ Challenges We Ran Into Real-time Script Decomposition: Slicing screenplay text into atomic scene blocks without breaking paragraph indentation or character dialogue formatting. Duplicate Scene Prevention: Ensuring form submissions and auto-extracted metadata never create duplicate scene headings during rapid edits. Cross-Platform Touch Dragging: Replacing native HTML5 Drag-and-Drop quirks with touch-friendly event listeners so scene reordering works effortlessly on mobile and tablets.
