The first and ever web-based, interactive playground for medical students to manage realistic Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus cases. Turn “I hope this is right” to “I’ve seen this case”.
Previous experience in clinical settings with patients and the Electronic Medical Record system
Got inspired by the TikTok trend “Think fast- medical edition” where medical students are presented with a list of symptoms and allowed to come up with the name of the disease in 30 seconds
Inspiration from the Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, a Steam game
What it does
Presents medical case scenarios where medical students can apply critical thinking and application
Replication of the time a doctor would have per medical case in the Emergency Department, encouraging accuracy and speed
How we built it
Decision on whether to build a website or an app: choosing a website-based platform provides immediate access for medical students. Due to the short time and coding experience of each member, the app would not be a viable option
Website built through Base44
Challenges we ran into
Finding a platform to be able to integrate all the elements we are looking for
Organize the website to allow easy navigation
Making the prompts as specific and clear as possible to ensure each element in the app functions properly
Don’t have enough time to create the app as our team had planned before, since the notification and deadline are too short
Balance the amount of time spent on the group project and spend time reviewing for the midterm exam after the Reading week
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Successfully built a functional website from concept to launch
Transformed an abstract idea into a structured, user-friendly digital product
Leveraged AI to significantly reduce website development time
Used AI to assist with design, content generation, layout, and feature implementation
Organized key features into a cohesive and intuitive interface
Strengthened teamwork and collaboration through the development process
Learned how to strategically move from idea to execution in a short timeframe
What we learned
We learned how to use Base44
Have more knowledge and interests in learning about Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus cases and medications
What's next for Script Dx - T2DM Clinical Reasoning
Do more fine-tuning of the website's existing information to ensure it is medically accurate
Expand the tool to other diseases + medical concepts
