Inspiration

Most wellness and digital wellbeing apps either force you to log everything manually or guilt-trip you with alarming red charts. Staring at a high screen time number feels terrible, even when most of those hours were spent coding, studying, or working. Screen time isn't inherently bad, and seeing a big number shouldn't damage your mindset. We built ScreenSense to automate wellness directly on your phone through an easy-to-use APK, automatically categorizing your screen time so you get meaningful context and healthy micro-habits instead of guilt.

What it does

ScreenSense tracks your screen time usage without tedious manual inputs, sorting screen time into clear categories like Development, Work & Study, Tools, and Relaxation. we add GEMINI AI it reads your usage patterns to suggest 1- to 3-minute wellness tasks, like resting your eyes or stretching your back.

How we built it

We built the Android app using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, Material 3, and Room for offline-first local storage. We 1st used Manus 1.6 Lite by Meta send rough prompt and asked to call multiple agents ( designer, app developer, wellness expert) to send us master prompt . then we used AI Assisted app development tool by google AI STUDIO used gemini 3.7 model .

Challenges we ran into

Android often counts home launchers as active foreground time, so we had to write custom filters to strip out idle launcher noise.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully achieved a whole native APK in only 48 hours

What we learned

achieving stressful development task in under 48 hours . experience in aistudio app dev

What's next for ScreenSense

We plan to add Android homescreen widgets so users can mark a habit as complete from the launcher, without opening the app.
