Inspiration

At bedtime, looking at a bright screen can be the last thing someone wants. Screenless Maze explores a calmer way to play: close your eyes and navigate by sound, touch, and movement.

What it does

Tilt the phone to guide a ball through a maze without watching the display. Spatial audio and gentle haptic feedback communicate direction and progress, with a bedtime timer and screen-off mode for a low-light experience.

How we built it

Screenless Maze is built with Flutter and uses RevenueCat for in-app purchases. Motion sensing, spatial audio, and haptics form the main interaction, so the maze can be followed without visual guidance.

Challenges we ran into

The main design challenge is making position and progress understandable without relying on a visible map. Audio cues and haptic feedback need to stay clear and calming while the phone is tilted through each turn.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The core maze experience works with eyes closed and keeps the display out of the way, using sound and touch as the primary guides.

What we learned

A mobile game does not have to ask for constant screen attention; the device’s motion, audio, and haptic features can carry the interaction.

What's next for Screenless Maze: Sleep Puzzle

Continue refining the audio and haptic cues and expanding the range of relaxing maze experiences.
