Inspiration
To be able to teach young people basic algorithms and conditionals with a fun card game.
What it does
The game uses blocks that serve as if and else statements and loops. Players will be required to create their own algorithms to control the player. The players do not choose which card to play, they use the blocks to influence the behavior of the playable character. A players success will depend on how well they can write algorithms
How we built it
We built it with Unity, which implements C#. We also used PixilArt.com to create our own sprites.
Challenges we ran into
Not all of us knew C# and Unity tended to have technical difficulties.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We made a pseudo language of sorts and undertook a task that required us to learn a lot.
What we learned
We learned coding languages are hard to make, but Silas and I learned a lot of C#.
What's next for Scrapyard
We hope to refine it and hopefully finish it up someday. That way it can be used to teach real students.
