We noticed that in our dining halls at school, buckets of food are wasted. We want to bring more awareness to people about the importance of reducing food waste. Therefore, we created this platform, Scraps Trackers, where you can log the food waste you have every day and learn its impact on the environment.

We are a group of students from different universities but share the same mission of saving the earth. We noticed that in our dining halls at school, buckets of food are wasted. Accomplishments that we're proud of
We were successfully able to link the front end portion with backend despite running some technical problems on the way. Image integration was a very important part of our project in order to display the message of food waste affecting the planet significantly. This waste can be prevented with more awareness about how much is wasted. Scrap tracks is the key to to this issue and helps manage food waste and help make an impact in the environment.
What we learned
We started this idea within 24 hours and we put up an app together as a team. The communication is the key, especially in this remote environment. There are often times we have confusions about certain parts of our projects but we always put into the group chat or utilize any other screen sharing tools to discuss together.
What's next for ScrapTracks
Next step for Scrap Trackers, we want to expand it to record plastic usage and waste. To tailor the app to educate more people from different age groups, we also want to include free lessons or blogs to share about the impact of food waste and plastic waste from our house's supply chain. We will also have tips on better preparing the precise amount of food and how we can deal with those waste properly.
