Inspiration

We were inspired by the growing problem of food waste and the desire to help urban families adopt more sustainable practices. We wanted to create a solution that is both engaging and impactful, leveraging technology to educate and incentivize users.

What it does

ScrapAsset tracks food waste as it is collected, composted, and transformed into valuable assets. It visually shows users how their waste is repurposed and rewards them for participating in the process.

How we built it

We designed a mobile app that uses visual storytelling to guide users through the journey of their food waste, from collection to composting. The app integrates a points-based reward system to incentivise ongoing participation.

What we learned

We learned that users need both ease of access and motivation in the form of incentives to adopt sustainable practices. Making the process transparent and rewarding was key to driving engagement.
