Inspiration
Remember Mad Libs from the good old days? We love Mad Libs! We wanted to be able to relive our old pastime no matter where we were or what we were doing. At school, work, or home, you are a click away from a good word scramble. We wanted to develop an online interface to shuffle around words on a given page.
What it does
Scrambled Bananas is a Chrome Extension that scrambles words on any webpage you visit, often to comical effect.
How we built it
We built upon existing word scrambling frameworks within Javascript and a Part of Speech API within Node.js to shuffle words around within a compact Chrome extension. We used the Browserify API to compile within a native browser.
Compilers: Eclipse, Intellij IDEA Ultimate Browser: Google Chrome (Version 88.0.4324.104)
Challenges we ran into
All members lacked a basic understanding of the Javascript language, the HTML language, and Node.js until the second day of the Hackathon. All members were unfamiliar about to how to develop a Chrome extension. All members have very weak Git-Fu. We were also unable to incorporate many of the proposed additions to the program, such as a clickable button to manually scramble the words and customize various aspects, such as the language and the shuffle area.
Accomplishments that we're proud of and what we learned
We developed a working Chrome extension. We learned the basics of Javascript and Node.js, as well as certain aspects of HTML. We're proud that it's so FUN and that it turned it to be GREAT!
What's next for Scrambled Bananas

Example: Billy’s buddy bought big bugs that bit Billy’s belly. Language Selected (Spanish) El amigo de Billy compró [sandias -> watermelons] grandes que [explotan en -> exploded in] la barriga de Billy. Billy’s buddy bought big watermelons that exploded in his belly.
