ScottySays

You ever have way too many questions to ask about life here at Carnegie Mellon, but lack a convenient and meaningful way to access all of the answers? Well, do we have a solution for you! Introducing ScottySays, the first app for Amazon Alexa made just for CMU students.

Our original idea was to built a web application that featured various uses for Carnegie Mellon students, and then integrate the application with Alexa interaction. When we realized both were not integrable, we decided to keep things interesting and stay with the Alexa side. Our goal was to have several different areas along which queries to Alexa could be made about CMU related things, such as dining service times, course information, building locations, and more.

We ran into issues getting the Alexa software to work, so after hours of trying, we decided to focus on the proof of concept. By utilizing an Alexa question and answer system application, we were able to mimic the true output of our desired application. Some fancy footwork and rushed editing later, we have a wonderful video to show you.
