[IP] ScottyMaps

Inspiration

After a year and a half of remote learning we found ourselves appreciating our campus more. Although well-adjusted to our home environments the reason for this app is to ease back into the college experience. Developing a sense of comfort and excitement to spend time in our beautiful campus, enjoying all the best places it has to offer and saying hi to Scotty.

What it does

Our website takes our stylized Google Map and Marker images to display important places on campus.

How we built it

Through Google Maps Javascript API, we connect the Google Cloud Platform with HMTL, CSS, and JS to display the custom campus map on our website.

Challenges we ran into

We ran into issues when initially reading the documentation and obtaining our API key for our stylized Google Map.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of successfully developing a robust application that can be a useful tool for students with anxiety from prolonged remote learning.

What we learned

We gained a greater knowledge of web development and digital art. We also learned how to delegate team responsibilities in an unfamiliar tech stack.

What's next for ScottyMaps

We are interested in the future integration of real time GPS navigation and foot traffic information across campus.
