Inspiration
We had a lot of ideas and we took a lot of time in brainstorming what we would end up doing, we settled on something revolving around food; because who doesn't like food? And so we tried making a sort of food fight game, where they would launch projectiles across the map against others. We found that this, along with that many features, were maybe a little bit too ambitious for our beginner skill set.
What it does
It prompts the user to maneuver Scottina through a torrential storm of chickens and culinary treats. The user's goal to to collect as many falling items as they can within the time limit.
How we built it
We built it using Unity and Visual-Studio code in c#. The graphics were drawn in Piskel, an online sprite creator.
Challenges we ran into
Projectile motion and calculating angles of trajectory are harder we than initially thought. Nearing the end we had to scrap the idea more than twice because of problems with the program's foundation or simply a lack of practicality in the time given.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The graphics were a highlight of this game, considering its simplicity. The physics involving the rotation of the objects as they fall down is really cool.
What we learned
We learned time management skills, collaboration, and technical knowledge with animating and programming software.
What's next for Scottina's Night Out
We could add multiple features such as difficulty levels, higher rates, upgradability, and customization characters.
