Inspiration
Projects begin with an agreement, but requirements change halfway through. Keeping original terms, new requests, and revised drafts organized is difficult. ScopeShield makes changes easier for freelancers and clients to track and discuss.
What It Does
ScopeShield compares agreed deliverables with new requests. It explains whether each Appears covered, May be additional work, or is Uncertain. Users correct suggestions, enter optional proposed fees or timing, then export a labeled draft change order as Markdown or printable PDF. Changed inputs invalidate reviews and block exports until reviewed again. No legal advice or assumed client approval.
How We Built It
We followed six Devpost Learn Skill Pack stages, documenting scope, requirements, specification, and checklist before implementation. HTML, CSS, and JavaScript run locally through a Python HTTP server. Browser localStorage saves the project. Node.js and Chrome tests verified behavior. No login or external API required.
Challenges We Faced
Suggestions must not masquerade as final decisions. We guarded against outdated results, invalid reviews, and browser-tab conflicts. When AI-agent usage limits interrupted work, we preserved progress and continued verification.
Accomplishments
A local-first app with editable findings, persistence, manual terms, and protected exports. It passed 24/24 unit tests, 14/14 Chrome integration checks, and 4/4 Chrome restart checks. We published source code and a narrated demo. The owner approved the proof of concept.
What We Learned
The six skills keep AI coding agents from skipping planning and review. Human checkpoints, recorded decisions, and test evidence produce a more reliable workflow. Declaring success is not proof.
What's Next
Multiple projects, revision histories, reviewed agreement imports, and optional client approval workflows. The goal is clearer communication before extra work begins.
