Our team name - Vibes

Inspiration

Inspiration comes from looking at the problem of why there is a low percentage of black community in the science and technology fields. The root of the problem is the motivation they get from the society as they are developing. We want to motivate them and show them that science is for everyone, regardless of age, color, gender, and other differences.

What it does

It gives young kids a platform to become a scientist by giving them a platform to build and share their scientific projects, which can be anything science related. It aims to boost the youth's confidence by plausing their work and featuring the active scientists on top of the leaderboards and the community providing them with constructive feedback.

How we built it

Built using Django web framework and SQLite. Our models are Scientist (the user), projects (that they build), comments (feedback from the community)

Challenges we ran into

Most of the team was inexperienced with django but they did their best to help with website design and ideas. The web developer was Pawanpreet Mundi

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We built a good design and outlook of our idea. To see it becoming real is something we're proud of.

What we learned

We learned the different design problems when it comes to web applications and making them user friendly. We thought of issues such as hate comments that could be posted by the community.

What's next for Science Club

There is functionality to add projects that is left, adding comments (which is low-priority), editing profile page, and more. Then, we will look into deployment of our project and advertising it.
