Inspiration
We were inspired by how difficult it can be for students to keep track of announcements, events, clubs, scholarships, college opportunities, and study resources when everything is spread across different platforms. We wanted to create one organized place where students could easily find the information and opportunities that matter to them.
What it does
SchoolSync is an all-in-one student platform that brings school announcements, events, clubs, scholarships, college planning, opportunities, and study resources into one dashboard. It also includes an AI Announcement Assistant that helps create clear and organized school announcements.
How we built it
We built SchoolSync as a web application using React, Vite, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. We designed the interface with reusable components, local data storage, responsive navigation, dark mode, and an AI-powered announcement creation system.
Challenges we ran into
One of our biggest challenges was organizing many different features while keeping the application simple and easy to navigate. We also had to solve issues with data persistence, responsive layouts, dark mode, navigation, and making sure different parts of the application worked together without breaking existing features.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a functional platform that combines many tools students normally have to access separately. We are especially proud of the AI Announcement Assistant, customizable student profiles, event and club systems, college and scholarship resources, and the polished dashboard and navigation system.
What we learned
We learned how important it is to plan the structure of an application before adding many features. We also gained experience with React components, routing, local storage, responsive design, debugging, UI design, and connecting multiple features into one cohesive application.
What's next for SchoolSync
Next, we want to connect SchoolSync to a real backend so schools can manage announcements, events, clubs, and other resources dynamically. We also want to expand the AI capabilities, add more personalized recommendations, improve collaboration between students and schools, and eventually make SchoolSync available to more schools.
