Inspiration

Students often receive homework, quizzes, tests, and project deadlines from different teachers independently. This can create overloaded days and make it difficult for students to understand and manage their overall workload.

SchoolFlow was created to give students and teachers a shared view of upcoming schoolwork and help schools distribute academic workload more reasonably.

What it does

SchoolFlow is a platform for students and teachers.

Teachers can create classes, subjects, assignments, quizzes, tests, and project deadlines. Students can see all of their upcoming work in one place instead of checking multiple sources.

One of SchoolFlow's main features is a workload analyzer. It detects days with a high number of important assignments or assessments and warns teachers before they schedule additional work.

The platform also plans to include student grades, average grade calculation, and a dashboard showing upcoming tasks and weekly workload.

How we built it

SchoolFlow is currently being developed during the CSC Back-to-School Hackathon.

The backend is being built with Python, Django, and Django REST Framework. PostgreSQL is used as the database, while Docker is used to make the application easier to run and deploy.

The project uses a REST API architecture with separate permissions for students and teachers.

Challenges we ran into

The project is still under development. We will update this section with the main technical and design challenges we encounter while building SchoolFlow.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The project is still being built. Our main goal is to create a working end-to-end system where teachers can manage assignments and students can clearly understand their upcoming workload.

What we learned

This section will be updated throughout the hackathon as the project develops.

What's next for SchoolFlow

The first goal is to complete the core MVP:

  • Student and teacher authentication
  • Classes and subjects
  • Homework, quizzes, tests, and project deadlines
  • Student dashboard
  • Grades
  • Weekly workload overview
  • Workload analyzer for teachers

After the MVP, SchoolFlow could be expanded with notifications, scheduling tools, more detailed analytics, and additional features for schools.
