Inspiration
We were inspired by the need to improve communication between teachers and parents. Too often, important information about a student’s academic progress or school activities gets lost or delayed. We wanted to create a solution that bridges this gap and fosters stronger collaboration in students’ education.
What it does
SchoolConnect is a platform that helps teachers and parents manage and stay up to date on students' academic performance, grades, and school-related activities. It centralizes information, streamlines communication, and ensures that everyone involved in a student’s education is on the same page.
How we built it
We built SchoolConnect using Bolt AI, which allowed us to create a responsive and intelligent interface. The backend integrates with a Supabase database to store and retrieve student information efficiently.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges we encountered was establishing a stable and secure connection to our Supabase project. Managing database integration, especially when it came to data migration and real-time updates, proved more complex than expected.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We’re proud of the smooth and intuitive workflow we developed for teachers. The system enables them to quickly access and input student data, making their administrative tasks significantly easier and more efficient.
What we learned
We learned that while building intuitive front-end experiences is important, ensuring robust backend connections—especially with databases—is equally critical and often more challenging than it appears. Managing and migrating database connections taught us a lot about reliability and scalability.
What's next for SchoolConnect
Next, we plan to enhance SchoolConnect by integrating real-time notifications, expanding parental access through a mobile app, and implementing AI-powered insights to help identify trends in student performance. We also aim to improve scalability and security as we prepare for broader deployment in schools.
