Inspiration
This project was inspired by my own experiences with leftover school supplies and trying to find old textbooks to borrow. This project can be utilized by students, parents, and teachers alike for all their school needs.
What it does
School Support allows users to donate or give away their leftover school supplies either through a post on the community hub or by finding a local donation center. Users can also browse through the community hub to find numerous postings of leftover school supplies and can reach out to schedule a pickup with the original poster. Additionally, teachers can donate, give away, or request.
How I built it
All the designs for School Support were created on Figma, a UI/UX visualization technology. Bravo Studio was used to set up working functions. I initially planned to create a fully functioning IOS app that would use Firebase for login and registration. Unfortunately, due to the time constraint and lack of teammates, this was not possible for me.
Challenges I ran into
One challenge was working with Figma and Bravo Studio, applications I have never used before. Another challenge was that my initial plans for Schools Support were hindered.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I am proud that I was able to adapt my project when challenges were thrown at me. I am also proud of the designs I made for School Support.
What I learned
I learned a lot about product design and making an app in general as this was the first app I have ever "created".
What's next for School Support
I hope to go through with my initial plans for School Support and creating a fully functioning mobile app. Some other possible future steps include having a system where users can select their respective institution and a specific class to find old textbooks or other supplies from previous students/teachers. A scanning feature can also add value to School Support, where an item can be scanned by a camera to assess condition of the product and suggest alternative methods of repurposing for damaged items.
