Inspiration
I was working and attending college at the same time. It became hard for me to manage my school, as there was too much going on. I couldn't find any suitable apps on the Android device, so I decided to write my own.
How it works
It allows the user to create semesters and register courses. The user can then create assignments for those courses and set the due dates. The user can view the due dates on their calendar and easily plan ahead.
Challenges I ran into
The main goal was to keep the app as simple as possible. At first it became hard with the concept of semesters, courses, and assignments. To tackle this, I decided that the main focus of the app will be assignments, as that's what matters most.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I have users in the hundreds download this app, which I'm happy of. This is because I did not do any advertisements or plan to be successful. It's just an app I wrote that I thought would be useful.

I learned lots of things about Android development.
What's next for School Companion for Android
If I was to pursue this more, I'd say adding cloud integration and Google calendar integration would truly empower users to upgrade their college management.
