Inspiration

As a high school student, I struggled to find internships, volunteer opportunities, and jobs that matched my interests and future goals. The process felt scattered and inefficient, with no single place to discover and track relevant opportunities. This frustration inspired me to create ScholarSync, an AI-powered app designed to simplify and personalize this journey for students like me.

What it does

ScholarSync is an AI-powered high school companion that helps students find and manage internships, volunteer opportunities, and jobs tailored to their career and college goals. It integrates with Google Calendar to organize commitments, provides an AI-driven Career Center for personalized advice, and includes a Portfolio Builder to showcase achievements and create a polished résumé.

How we built it

We developed ScholarSync using a combination of AI-powered tools and custom-built features to make it both intelligent and user-friendly. Key components include: A questionnaire-based onboarding system to personalize recommendations. AI-powered search to find and rank opportunities from across the web. Google Calendar integration for seamless scheduling. A Portfolio Builder to document accomplishments. An AI-driven Career Center offering guidance and a to-do list based on career aspirations.

Challenges we ran into

Building ScholarSync came with its share of challenges, including: Filtering and ranking opportunities – Ensuring AI-generated suggestions were relevant and high-quality. Seamless Google Calendar integration – Making scheduling smooth without overwhelming the user. Balancing AI automation with user control – Allowing customization while keeping the app intuitive.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully integrating AI to provide personalized career and extracurricular recommendations. Creating an intuitive user experience that makes it easy for students to track and apply for opportunities. Developing a Portfolio Builder that helps students showcase their achievements professionally.

What we learned

Throughout this project, I gained valuable insights into: AI and automation – How to leverage AI to personalize user experiences. User experience design – Making a feature-rich app simple and efficient. Data organization – Structuring information in a way that benefits users the most.

What's next for ScholarSync

We plan to expand ScholarSync by: Adding more AI-driven insights to improve recommendation accuracy. Enhancing the Career Center with more tailored college and career guidance. Introducing collaborative features, allowing students to connect with peers and mentors.
