Inspiration

When I was applying for scholarships, I had information scattered everywhere, saved across Facebook, Instagram, and other places. Eventually I lost track of it all, missed deadlines, and applied without proper preparation. That's what made me think about building something that could manage all the programs I was eligible for and help me apply to them efficiently and on time.

What it does

ScholarshipHub is an application tracker built for Vietnamese students applying to top international scholarships: Chevening, DAAD, Fulbright, Erasmus Mundus, IFP, Stipendium Hungaricum, and more. It centralizes deadlines, required documents, and application progress across multiple programs in one dashboard, so students stop losing track of what's due where.

How I built it

I built it solo, using a dual agent AI development workflow. Claude Code handled interactive feature development and architecture decisions, while OpenAI Codex ran in the background on testing, code review, and cleaning up tech debt. I also set up custom subagents for specialized checks: a security auditor for auth and data exposure issues, a performance optimizer for query and bundle size, and a health checker for post deploy verification.

Challenges I ran into

The first challenge was the idea itself: how to turn it into a dashboard that's compact but still effective and useful for most applicants. Codex helped me build the things that only existed in my head and turn them into something real.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I got my very first paid users just two days after publishing. I'm still improving the web app and working on increasing its presence among applicants.

What I learned

I learned that systematic thinking and critical thinking are the two most important things when working with an AI agent. You have to give it detailed guidance, and you have to stay in the loop instead of blindly approving whatever plan it comes up with. Great power comes with responsibility. I really do feel like we've been given the power of gods, and we need to use it meaningfully, for the good of people.

What's next for ScholarshipHub

More scholarship programs, AI review for application documents, community features, and more detailed program search.
