Inspiration

PIXEL RUNNER was inspired by classic arcade runner games and the idea that simple mechanics can create highly engaging experiences. The project focuses on delivering fun, speed, and challenge through minimalistic design.

What We Built

PIXEL RUNNER is a 2D endless runner game where players must dodge obstacles, react quickly, and survive as long as possible. The game features retro pixel graphics, smooth animations, and progressively increasing difficulty.

Technical Approach

The game was built with a focus on efficient game loops, real-time collision detection, responsive player controls, and dynamic difficulty scaling. Performance optimization was prioritized to ensure smooth gameplay.

What We Learned

This project strengthened our understanding of core game development concepts, including player physics, collision handling, scoring systems, and balancing gameplay difficulty. We also improved our skills in rapid prototyping and iterative development under time constraints.

Challenges

Key challenges included implementing precise collision detection, maintaining smooth performance, and tuning difficulty to keep the game challenging without overwhelming players—all within a limited hackathon timeframe.

Impact

PIXEL RUNNER demonstrates how a lightweight, well-designed game can deliver an engaging user experience using simple mechanics, making it accessible, fun, and replayable.
