Inspiration

The inspiration for ScholarFind came from recognizing the struggles many students face in finding and applying for scholarships. We wanted to create an app that simplifies the scholarship search process and provides mentorship to guide students through the challenges of university life. We aim to make higher education more accessible and less stressful for students from all backgrounds.

What it does

ScholarFind is a platform that matches students with scholarships tailored to their profiles and preferences or if they choose their area on the map it shows them the available scholarships. Additionally, it connects students with experienced mentors who guide scholarship applications, academic planning, and navigating university life. This dual approach ensures that students receive financial support and the mentorship needed for academic success.

How we built it

We built ScholarFind using Replit for a streamlined development environment. Replit facilitated both front-end and back-end development, allowing us to write and test code in real-time. Replit's collaborative features enabled our team to work together efficiently, share code, and make iterative improvements.

One of the main challenges we faced was developing an algorithm that accurately matches students with the most relevant scholarships.

We are proud of successfully creating an app that addresses two significant needs for students: finding scholarships and receiving mentorship. Our scholarship matching algorithm and user-friendly interface are major accomplishments. Additionally, the mentorship feature, which connects students with experienced guides, has the potential to make a lasting positive impact on their educational journeys.

What we learned

Throughout the development of ScholarFind, we learned the importance of user-centered design and the value of iterative testing. Engaging with potential users and incorporating their feedback was crucial in refining our app. We also gained insights into the technical challenges of integrating multiple functionalities into a single platform, enhancing our problem-solving and collaboration skills.

What's next for ScholarFind

Looking ahead, we plan to expand the database of scholarships and mentors to provide even more comprehensive support for students. We aim to introduce new features, such as AI-driven recommendations and personalized goal tracking, to further enhance the user experience. Additionally, we will explore partnerships with educational institutions and organizations to increase the reach and impact of ScholarFind, helping more students achieve their academic dreams.
