Inspiration
The inspiration comes from the fact that we find it hard to find places on campus to study during exam season, the app saves us time from running around on campus to find a free spot.
What it does
The app has two interfaces, one map and another dashboard, one is a visual representation of what places are more/less saturated whereas the other provides an exact figure.
How we built it
The front end is built on Flutter (dart) and the map is based on a Google Maps API on which we implemented its tiles feature.
Challenges we ran into
Marking buildings that were unmarked on Google Maps took a while to navigate
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Real-time updates and the use of programmable NFC tags to change the status of some tables quickly
What we learned
We learned the development of applications and building complex APIs
What's next for Scholar Space
Trying to grow the app by adding more functionalities. Implementation in our university (UBCO).
