Inspiration: As students, we need to be careful about the amount of money we spend, where we spend it and for what purpose we spend it, especially in today's world where the cost of living is too high. So, we believe that a budgeting app is extremely helpful for students struggling with managing their expenses.
What it does: This app will allow students to manage their budget, track the amount of money they are spending. It allows students to compare price differences for all the items they plan to buy. Students are able to get student perks from many companies collaborating with the main company. Students are also rewarded prizes in 'cute food' that is stored in their respective in app fridges when they are able to achieve their weekly and monthly budgeting goals. This food stored in the fridges, can be converted into real food when the ingredients collected are enough. This real food is basically, the company's initiative to donate into food banks for charity.
How we built it: We discussed, planned every detail and sketched everything so the viewer could see how we plan the design of the app should be.
Challenges we ran into: We were struggling with the programming part to create this project as all of us are complete beginners. But then we were told that a sketch for this project would be sufficient so we just decided to submit the sketch to get our idea shown to the world.
Accomplishments that we're proud of: We're really proud of the idea of the food bank that we created as that would also help the poor all around the world and at the same time gain a good reputation for the company and promote the usage of this app to more students and even people who are older.
What we learned: We learned how to develop the idea of a product from scratch, how to design an application and we got to think from the perspective of a user on how to make the app more interesting to the user.
What's next for Scholar Dollar Student Budgeting App: We would absolutely love to make this app and get it launched for the entire world to use. This app not only promoted good budgeting skills but also at the same time helps people to do charity indirectly!
