Inspiration
Dirty ATM pin pads are everywhere. To ensure secure, trustworthy withdrawal of cash from the ATM machine - we propose to use a person's own smartphone as PIN pad for the ATM.
What it does
You approach an ATM and put in your VISA/Master/EC Card into it. You open the banking app "schmutziges Wiesel" on your smartphone and enter your pin, which you would normally put into the ATM's keypad for verification. The atm machine then dispenses the selected amount of cash.
How we built it
We built a prototype in around 14+ hours which uses:
node.js socket.js REST-ful postbank API
Challenges we ran into
Is there a secure way to transfer the pin code from your smartphone via the existing banking app for verification?
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We go a working prototype! And we had lot's of fun building it!
What we learned
Banks are fun to work with! Great support from postbank during the hackaton and from very friendly people!
What's next for schmutziges Wiesel
Depending on what the banks say: integration of the prototype into the postbank api.
