SchemeSathi
SchemeSathi is an AI-powered platform that helps citizens discover government welfare schemes they are eligible for in seconds. By analyzing user details such as age, occupation, income, and location, the platform intelligently matches users with relevant central and state government schemes.
Inspiration
SchemeSathi — AI-Powered Government Scheme Discovery Platform
In India, thousands of government welfare schemes are launched every year to support citizens in areas such as education, agriculture, healthcare, housing, and employment. However, the information about these schemes is scattered across multiple websites and portals. Many citizens — especially those in rural areas — are unaware of the benefits they are eligible for due to complex eligibility rules, language barriers, and lack of easy access to information.
Our inspiration came from a simple but powerful question:
“What if every citizen could instantly know which government schemes they qualify for?”
This idea led us to create SchemeSathi, an AI-powered platform designed to help citizens quickly discover the government schemes they are eligible for.
What it does
SchemeSathi provides a simple and intelligent way for citizens to find relevant government schemes. Users enter basic information such as:
- Age
- Gender
- Occupation
- Income
- State
- Social category
The system analyzes this data and recommends the most relevant government schemes. Each recommendation includes eligibility explanations, match percentages, and instructions on how to apply.
The platform also includes an AI chatbot that allows users to ask questions about schemes in natural language.
Features
- AI-powered government scheme discovery
- Personalized eligibility matching
- Conversational AI chatbot
- Voice input using Web Speech API
- Text-to-speech responses for accessibility
- Scheme comparison tool
- Bookmark and save schemes
- Export scheme details as PDF
- Mobile-friendly design
- Progressive Web App (PWA) support ## How we built it SchemeSathi is built using modern web technologies.
Frontend: - Next.js
AI Layer: - LLaMA 3.3 70B model via Groq API
Speech & Accessibility: - Web Speech API
Deployment: - Hosted on Vercel
The system processes user inputs and runs them through an eligibility matching engine to rank government schemes based on relevance.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges was dealing with fragmented information about government schemes. Different portals provide different formats and eligibility requirements, which required structuring and simplifying the data.
Another challenge was designing an interface that is easy to use for people who may not be familiar with technology. Adding voice input and text-to-speech features helped improve accessibility.
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
- Building a working AI-powered scheme discovery prototype
- Integrating conversational AI for scheme-related queries
- Designing an accessible and mobile-friendly platform
- Creating a tool with potential real-world social impact
What we learned
During development, we learned how to integrate large language models into real-world applications, design accessible interfaces, and build systems that address real social problems.
What's next for SchemeSathi
Future improvements include:
- Supporting more regional languages
- Integrating official government APIs
- Adding document verification for eligibility
- Expanding the database to include more schemes
- Providing direct application links for schemes
Our goal is to make SchemeSathi the most trusted platform for discovering government welfare schemes in India.
SchemeSathi demonstrates how AI can bridge the gap between government welfare programs and the citizens who need them the most.
