Our Journey to Building the Smart Scheduling Plugin
We initially set out to solve the challenge of finding end-of-year internships, which is often a daunting task. During our discussions, the topic of emails came up, and we realized it would be practical to streamline scheduling through a smart bot.
The real challenge, however, was finding APIs that fit our needs. After extensive research, we decided to use Calendly since it offered a POST API that could support our implementation. Even then, the API responses weren’t fully tailored to our requirements, so we had to manipulate the data to extract only the parts we needed.
But the challenges didn’t end there. We needed to pass data between plugins, which unfortunately wasn’t possible with two custom plugins. This limitation forced us to improvise and find creative workarounds to achieve our goals.
In the end, we learned a great deal about Hexabot, plugins, and the incredible possibilities they offer. Most importantly, we realized that building great products requires persistence and ingenuity.
