Inspiration
In Germany, 3% of people don't have anyone to spend Christmas with. This sense of loneliness during the festive season inspired us to create a solution that fosters meaningful connections.
What it Does
Our app addresses this issue by matching groups of 3-5 people to bond over the Advent season. Each day, the group opens a virtual Advent door, revealing small challenges designed to help them get to know each other and discover shared interests.
A week before Christmas, the app facilitates the group in selecting a day and place to meet up. By then, they’re not meeting as strangers, but as individuals with genuine connections.
How We Built It
We created a working prototype using Figma, leveraging its animation tools to design a seamless and engaging user experience.
Challenges We Ran Into
One major challenge was aligning on our target audience. We debated whether to focus on socially anxious individuals or a broader demographic. Ultimately, we chose to target people who are open to meeting new people, as they are more likely to engage with this concept.
Accomplishments We're Proud Of
Designing a functional and visually appealing prototype.
Animating Figma prototypes to mimic a polished end product.
Utilizing Figma’s built-in tools to create complex animations, such as zoom-ins and transitions.
What We Learned
How to effectively create Figma prototypes to bring ideas to life, but also adhere to UI/UX guidelines.
Leveraging Figma’s default capabilities to mock up advanced animations, making the design feel more realistic and user-centric.
What's Next for ADVENTure
After implementing the prototype as a mobile app, we envision expanding the concept beyond Christmas. The app could support other social bonding events like Halloween, or even general meetups throughout the year.
