Inspiration

I had a smelly roommate. I like internet of things. I like the word "fleet".

What it does

Control a fleet of air fresheners from the palm of your hand :) Our hack allows you to turn air fresheners on and off, as well as set a frequency for how often they spray from the web. You can theoretically set up multiple Scentry bots in places like your office, your room, or your home, and control them all from your phone and computer.

How we built it

We took apart a Glade sprayer and rewired it to a Sparkcore. Our web/mobile interface communicates w/a server that calls the Sparkcore API to control the Sparkcore. The Sparkcore then sprays the Glade.

Challenges we ran into

Creating a REST API on a local server and having the web/mobile interface interact with it. Also, our initial idea of using a physical motor powered trigger quickly went down the drain.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We had to go out and purchase an electric Glade sprayer, and we took it apart and connected it to our own circuits. Also, getting the information passed from a cell phone to a server to the sprayer was a plus.

What we learned

We learned how to create an API and interface with it by taking on JavaScript callback. Also, we learned that the Sparkcore is very helpful for IoT hacks.

What's next for Scentry

We're going to package it better, and also create a feature to schedule sprays.
