Inspiration
Inspiration
Movies are created using hundreds of different shots and scenes. During filming and editing, small continuity mistakes can easily happen. For example, an object may suddenly change position, a person's clothes may look different, or a drink may suddenly become empty or full between two connected shots.
These mistakes can affect the audience's viewing experience and are often difficult for filmmakers and editors to identify manually.
This inspired us to create SceneSync AI — an agentic AI system designed to analyze consecutive movie shots and identify possible continuity errors automatically.
What it does
SceneSync AI uses intelligent AI agents to analyze different aspects of consecutive scenes.
The system can check for differences such as:
🎭 Character appearance changes 👕 Costume inconsistencies 🧍 Object position changes 🥤 Missing or suddenly appearing objects 🎬 Scene-to-scene visual inconsistencies
Different AI agents work together to observe, compare, analyze, and report potential continuity errors.
The goal is not to replace filmmakers or editors, but to provide them with an intelligent assistant that helps detect mistakes faster.
How we built it
We designed SceneSync AI as an agentic AI workflow.
The process works like this:
Scene Analysis Agent examines each movie shot. Object Detection Agent identifies important objects and characters. Comparison Agent compares consecutive shots. Continuity Agent analyzes possible inconsistencies. Reporting Agent generates a clear report highlighting potential continuity errors.
By dividing the work among multiple AI agents, the system can perform a structured analysis instead of simply checking images one by one.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges was understanding whether a change between two shots was actually a continuity mistake.
For example, camera angles, lighting, zoom levels, and intentional movement can make two shots look different even when there is no error.
Another challenge was designing agents that could work together efficiently and provide meaningful results instead of reporting every small visual difference as a mistake.
We addressed these challenges by focusing on important elements such as characters, costumes, objects, and their relationships between scenes.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
What we learned
Through this project, we learned more about:
Agentic AI systems Computer vision Object and scene analysis Multi-agent workflows Comparing visual information across multiple frames Applying AI to real-world problems in the film industry
We also learned that AI can play an important role in the creative industry by supporting professionals rather than replacing human creativity.
What's next for SceneSync AI
In the future, we plan to improve SceneSync AI by adding:
🎥 Full video analysis 🧠 Better context understanding 📜 Script-based continuity checking 🔊 Dialogue consistency analysis ✂️ Integration with video editing workflows 📊 A visual dashboard for filmmakers and editors
Our vision is to make SceneSync AI an intelligent continuity assistant for the future of filmmaking.
