Inspiration

As creators, we've all hit that wall—staring at a blank screen, struggling to visualize the world we’re trying to build. Whether writing a story, scripting a video, or building a game, we realized there was no simple, visual tool to instantly generate inspiration from just a sentence or a vibe. SceneSwipe was born from this frustration: the need for an AI-powered creative jumpstart that could bring storytelling to life with a single swipe.

What it does

SceneSwipe transforms short creative prompts into vivid, swipeable visuals. Users enter a description—like “Foggy forest at dawn with retro-futuristic vibes”—and get back a series of stylized scenes generated by AI. Each scene comes with optional narrative context, character starter ideas, and export tools, making it the perfect sandbox for writers, filmmakers, designers, and storytellers.

How we built it

Frontend: Built with React and Next.js to ensure blazing-fast rendering, smooth swipe transitions (using Framer Motion), and a mobile-first, responsive UI.

Backend: Powered by Node.js and Express, connected to Firebase for auth, storage, and metadata handling.

AI Integration: Connected to OpenAI for natural language refinement and Stability AI for image generation, wrapped in a queue system with rate-limiting and error fallback.

Extras: Integrated Notion and Figma export options, custom prompt templates, and basic moderation tools for content filtering.

Challenges we ran into

Generating consistent visual quality across highly abstract prompts.

Maintaining fast UI performance while rendering large AI-generated images.

Designing prompt engineering logic that struck a balance between creativity and relevance.

Filtering out NSFW or offensive content in a real-time generation workflow.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a functional swipe-to-generate creative tool in under 72 hours.

Designed an intuitive UX that makes AI-powered visual storytelling feel natural and inspiring.

Got early validation from writers and artists during testing—several said it “unblocked” their process within minutes.

What we learned

AI can be magical—but only when paired with thoughtful UX and limits.

Creators don't want just images—they want stories, tones, and emotions attached to visuals.

Less can be more: the ability to swipe, refresh, and remix beats endless customization menus.
